You've stepped into a vortex, created especially for your Higher Purpose. You sit down, take some deep breaths, and begin to relax. The energy shift is obvious. It is so satisfying to have a sacred space to call your own. This space is your sanctuary. Here, your energies align effortlessly
Creating a sacred space is easy and the rewards are profound. Here are some simple steps to get you started.
1. Partner with Spirit. Before you begin, set the intention to partner with Spirit to create a sacred space easily and effortlessly. Close your eyes and scan your home in your mind's eye. You may have to take an actual walk around your home to familiarize yourself with its current layout before you start. Allow your Spirit to show you your sacred space. Realistically speaking, since you are sacred, wherever you are is sacred. But this sacred space is created specifically for you. And the more you use it, the more it is energized. Your personal sacred space immediately anchors you when you're in a state of contrast and aligns you when you need guidance. When I first did this exercise, I allowed my mind to govern the process. I chose the most logical place for my sacred space to be. It was in my living room on a big green couch with a coffee table in front. It didn't take me long to realize this couch was not my sacred space. It took too much time to get it ready every day, clearing dishes from the night before, wiping off the table, folding up the blanket, etc. It was a common area. Partnering with Spirit provides the most efficient and effective process when creating your sacred space. When I actively partnered with Spirit, the space became clear to me. There is a red, wingback chair, nestled in a corner in my bedroom. PERFECT!
2. Prepare the space. Purposeful movement is an excellent form of meditation and a gratifying piece of ceremonial preparation. I pulled the chair away from the wall and brushed off any dust and hair (I have four furry animals), then pushed it back to its proper place. I vacuumed the carpet. I remembered a floor lamp stored in the garage that would be perfect for lighting. I added some color with my favorite wrap from Taos, NM. I burned some sage, smudging (energy clearing) the area, a lesson I learned from the Native American tradition.
3. Invite Sacred Objects. Who wants to participate in this sacred space? I had a little Quan Yin statue, The Buddha, my "Trust" rock, some candles, crystals, and my favorite snuggly seal. I filled a brass container with a number of rocks and crystals and placed it under my chair as an amplifier. Since my chair is next to my dresser, I keep extra pens and candles in the top drawer. You may decide to have music, flowers, and incense. Anything you need should be provided a place in this sacred space. Remember, easy and effortless!
4. Respect Sacred Ground. Every once in a while I look over and see that pair of jeans I pealed off the night before. Oops! Keep this space clear of any clutter and give it the respect it deserves. This vortex of energy is a great power that should be adorned with jewels and ornaments, not laundry.
5. Enjoy! Know that every time you sit in your sacred space it is being activated. You feed it as much as it feeds you. My Sacred Space is perfect! Just sitting in that chair centers and comforts me. I feel the energy spiral through me, grounding me to mother earth and lifting me to the heavens as I embrace my spirit and earthly body. Here I write, I read, I pray, I cry, I ponder, I meditate. It is the beginning and it is the end. Here, I am at home within myself, reminded that I too am sacred.
Your sacred space is very personal and so is your process of creating it. Have fun and allow yourself to let go and really be open to what wants to be born. This is your gift to yourself. Make it splendid! By blessing yourself with this sacred gift, the planet reaps its sacred rewards.
